Kaka looking for peace and quiet

Brazilian star Kaka is looking forward to returning to work with AC Milan this weekend after his proposed world record move to Manchester City was called off on Monday.

The attacking midfielder found himself hogging the headlines for a week as details emerged of the bid from mega-rich City.

But now that all that is behind him, the 26-year-old wants to get back to doing what he does best – playing football.

With an important Serie A match at Bologna on Sunday to come as Milan try to close down the six-point deficit they have to champions, leaders and bitter city rivals Inter Milan, focus is vital.

And Kaka no longer wants to talk about the trasfer saga that almost turned his world upside down.

“I’m sorry but after all this palaver I have to work,” he said at his club’s training ground when asked about the transfer saga.

No sooner had his proposed move to City fallen through but rumours sprung up that Kaka wants to join Real Madrid.

“I can’t talk about the transfer market and even less so about Real Madrid,” he told a Spanish journalist.

This unwelcome distraction may not yet quite have calmed down but injured Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso believes it may even work in his team’s favour.

“Kaka staying has given the team incredible enthusiasm,” he said. “It’s the proof that the president (Silvio) Berlusconi believes in Milan and wants Milan to remain a team that wins things.”

Just how much of an unsettling effect the saga had remains to be seen but Milan’s, and indeed Kaka’s performance this weekend against Bologna’s water-tight defence could be a very helpful indicator.

To really put transfer talk to bed, Kaka and Milan will need to inflict a first defeat on Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, unbeaten in nine Serie A matches since taking over the reins at the beginning of November.
