Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has urged his side to stay on the right track following Sunday’s 5-0 thumping of Espanyol at the Bernabeu.
The Brazilian midfielder was a starter in the match and put in an impressive performance by providing two assists and also scoring Madrid’s fourth goal of the night.
The victory allowed Jose Mourinho’s side to remain 10 points clear of Barcelona, who had defeated Sporting Gijon 3-1 on Saturday, and Kaka believes the team must avoid any slip-ups at all costs.
“This was a special night,” Kaka said. “We have to continue picking up points because we have an opponent (Barcelona) who is very competitive.”
“I was able to do what I wanted to do. This match will give me a lot of confidence. Let’s see if I can keep up this level.”
“I think that we are the ones who make a match hard or easy. We were aware of what we had to do and we made the match easier. We are all happy.”
Madrid visit Real Betis on Saturday in their upcoming La Liga fixture before hosting CSKA Moscow the following Wednesday in their second leg Champions League last-16 encounter.
