Real Madrid’s Kaka has urged his side to maintain their strong form following a 5-0 demolition of Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Brazil midfielder Kaka started the La Liga match on Sunday and put in an impressive performance, providing two assists and also scoring Real’s fourth goal of the night.
The victory allowed Real to remain 10 points clear of defending champions Barcelona, who defeated Sporting Gijon 3-1 on Saturday, and Kaka believes the team must avoid any slip-ups at all costs.
“This was a special night,” Kaka said.
“We have to continue picking up points because we have an opponent (Barcelona) who is very competitive.”
“I was able to do what I wanted to do. This match will give me a lot of confidence. Let’s see if I can keep up this level.”
“I think that we are the ones who make a match hard or easy. We were aware of what we had to do and we made the match easier. We are all happy.”
Real visit Betis on Saturday in their next La Liga fixture, before hosting CSKA Moscow the following Wednesday in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
