Arsenal have been alerted to the possibility of signing Lille forward Salomon Kalou, the Mail Online understands.
The Ivory Coast international moved to the Ligue 1 side in last summer having spent six years at Chelsea where he scored thirty-six goals in one hundred and fifty-six Premier League appearances.
The 28 year old is keen on a return to the English top-flight, and has told his advisors to look for potentially interested parties.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is likely to bring in a new forward when the transfer window reopens in January, and has been linked with moves for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Fernando Llorente of Juventus.
However Kalou, who has a €3m release clause, may prove to be a more viable option.
The former Feyenord is set to win his fifty-eighth international cap in Saturday’s World Cup play-off against Senegal, and can be backed at 6/1 to get the first goal of the game.
