Salomon Kalou has revealed that he turned down the chance to sign for Arsenal during the January transfer window, the Daily Star understands.
The Ivory Coast man was one of a number of players linked with a move to the Emirates earlier in the year, though the Gunners only managed to secure a loan deal for midfielder Kim Kallstrom, who finally made it into Arsene Wenger’s match-day squad at the weekend but is yet to play.
Kalou moved to Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer of 2012, and has scored 24 goals in 58 league appearances for the club.
His former employees Chelsea thumped Arsenal 6-0 on Saturday lunchtime to put a huge dent in their hopes of clinching a first Premier League title in a decade.
They will hope to bounce straight back with victory over Swansea City tomorrow evening, which can be backed at a price of 9/20.
