With Euro 24 officially getting underway on June 14th when host nation Germany welcome Scotland to Munich, all of Europe’s elite will be looking to write their own piece of history this summer.

With many tipped the Three Lions’ current crop as a real golden generation, the likes of former world champions France also boast a string of attacking icons.

Ahead of what promises to be a month of non-stop Euro 24 action, we have taken a look at the three striking superstars that are pencilled in as the leading contenders to lift this summer’s Golden Boot.

Harry Kane – England & Bayern Munich

While Bayern Munich might have endured a real domestic nightmare this season as they relinquished their Bundesliga crown to a record-breaking Bayer Leverkusen, Harry Kane enjoyed what was a stunning maiden campaign among Germany’s elite.

Although some might have been shocked last summer as Bayern agreed a reported £100million deal with Tottenham for the England skipper, Kane certainly repaid that lofty transfer fee.

While Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz might have been crowned as the Bundesliga Player of the Season this year, it is that ex-Spurs talisman who stole most of Germany’s headlines.

Breezing his way to Germany’s Golden Boot after notching 36 goals in his 32 appearances, Kane remarkably registered a Bundesliga strike every 79 minutes and broke a string of records during his domestic romp.

Crowned as the 2016 World Cup Golden Boot winner as the Three Lions secured a semi-final finish in Russia, Kane will undeniably have a leading role to play in England’s charge to get their hands on a first piece of international silverware in 58 years.

Kylian Mbappe – France & Real Madrid

While Kane might be installed as the leading contender to claim this summer’s Euro 24 Golden Boot, there is no doubt that another striking superstar is stealing all of the headlines heading into this summer’s European Championships.

With it officially announced on Monday that Kylian Mbappe has officially completed a history-making move to Spanish icons Real Madrid, the French skipper has only further cemented his spot as one of world football’s ultimate poster boys.

Although the one-time Monaco starlet might have failed to guide French heavyweights PSG to a maiden Champions League crown last season, Mbappe enjoyed another stunning free-scoring flurry during the 2023/24 campaign.

Mbappe, a World Cup winner in 2018 with Les Blues, is PSG’s record goalscorer with 256 goals since he joined them from Monaco on an initial loan switch in 2017.

If France are to get their hands on a first European crown since 2000, it is no secret that the latest Real Madrid galactico will spearhead Didier Deschamps‘ charge over in Germany this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal & Al-Nassr

Securing what was an earth-shattering move to Saudi Arabia back in December 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr is certainly regarded as one of the most high-profile transfers in the modern era.

Paving the way for what has become Saudi Arabia’s attempted takeover of world football, Ronaldo has continued to shine since arriving in the Pro League 18 months ago.

Although it might have appeared that the former Manchester United superstar was simply looking to grab one final bank-breaking pay check before hanging up his boots, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has stated that he has not intention of drawing a line under his iconic career any time soon.

Storming his way to Saudi Arabia’s Golden Boot this season, Ronaldo notched 35 goals in just his 31 appearances and finished seven ahead of Al Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrovic in the final standings.

While there might have been questions over his long-term future on the international stage, the 206-cap international has a leading role to play this summer.
