(GSM) – Defending Russian champions Rubin Kazan needed a last-minute goal to make a difference in Sunday’s away game to Anzhi Makhachkala.
Rubin, who suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat by Kobenhavn in their Champions League opener earlier this week, hoped to bounce back at Machackala’s Dinamo stadium.
For a long time, the hosts kept their opponents away from the goal but in the 90th minute it was Turkish substitute Gökdeniz Karadeniz to finally break the deadlock.
Rubin Kazan are now three points behind Zenit St. Petersburg, but the leaders have three games in hand.
