Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has dismissed claims that Tuesday’s match against Bolton will decide his future.
Kean said he had held talks with the club’s Indian owners, Venky’s, on Sunday.
“I spoke to the owner for about 45 minutes yesterday,” Kean said.
“We had a real good conversation, mentioning again the health of some of the players because we’ve got a few that are falling at the moment and we’re looking forward now to the transfer window opening to see if we can get a couple of bodies in that can hit the ground running straight away and make an impact.”
But Kean refuted suggestions of any kind of ultimatum ahead of the Bolton clash.
“No, not at all, no.”
Kean’s position at the club intensified after Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to West Brom.
And news that defender Scott Dann will undergo surgery on a groin injury, ruling him out for six weeks, is a further blow.
Martin Olsson, Michel Salgado, Ryan Nelsen and Gael Givet are also missing, leaving the Rovers boss with a defensive crisis.
“We just have to get on with it. It is not ideal but we have strong characters and we will prepare for tomorrow’s game properly,” Kean said.
“We are under no illusion about the magnitude of this game but we have to go out there and almost enjoy the pressure.”
