According to Sky in Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Naby Keita is not happy with his current status at Liverpool.
The Guinean midfielder arrived to Anfield from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of €60 million. He hasn’t been able to make the expected impact at the club as injuries kept nibbling at his efforts to establish himself as a regular starter. In all competitions, he has so far made 117 appearances in the Red shirt, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists.
Keita’s contract with the Merseysiders expires at the end of the season. Apparently, there have been talks about a new deal, but they’ve now been put on hold as the 27-year-old considers his options. Providing their valuation is met by a prospective suitor club, Liverpool could allow him to leave, despite the injuries that are currently plaguing their midfield section.
Keita has recovered from illness and is in contention for the Manchester United clash as things stand at the moment, but Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones are all sidelined.
Excl. News Naby #Keita: He is unhappy with his current situation in Liverpool. There were talks about a contract extension but they have stopped now. His departure is possible regardless of Thiago and Oxlade-Chamberlain. But early stage. Talks will take place. #LFC @SkySportDE 🇬🇳
