Kelly close to Palace switch

Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Martin Kelly from Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.

The Merseyside club have already brought in fellow full-back Javier Manquillo on loan from Atletico Madrid while a fee for Alberto Moreno has been agreed with Sevilla, deals wish are set to push Kelly further down the Anfield pecking order.

The 24 year old made just a handful of appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season after missing the majority of the 2012/13 campaign through injury, while he started just two games – both in the League Cup.

Aside from a brief loan spell with Huddersfield Town in 2009, Kelly has spent his entire career so far with Liverpool, and he was part of the squad that won the 2012 League Cup.

The one time England international now looks set to join the Eagles ahead of their season opener with Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
