Two of Sir Alex Ferguson’s more experienced squad members have vowed to stay and fight for first-team football at Old Trafford.
Winger Antonio Valencia and midfielder Park Ji-Sung have both pledged their loyalty to Manchester United as they aim to win their 20th English Premier League title.
Ecuador international Valencia and South Korea’s Park had both earned ‘unwanted’ labels following the 17-million-pound signing of Ashley Young from Aston Villa.
Despite the potential competition for places, Valencia is welcoming Young’s arrival.
“I heard about this on the news, but I do not fear his arrival,” Valencia told The Sun.
“The season is long, and under Alex Ferguson everyone will get their chance in United’s key matches.”
“Ashley is a good footballer and I believe that he will help us towards even more success next season.”
“As for myself, I have two seasons left at United and I am convinced I will fulfil those. And maybe a few more years, too.”
Valencia is with Ecuador as they prepare for the Copa America tournament but has put aside reports of a potential move away from United.
“There are rumours about other clubs but I have no news about that,” he said.
“I am just focused on the Copa America and performing with Ecuador.”
Meanwhile, 30-year-old Park has also confirmed he does not want to go anywhere.
The former South Korea international had been linked with moves to Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Sevilla but insists that he would like to remain at Old Trafford.
“It would be honour for me to keep playing for Manchester United,” Park told reporters at a fan meeting at the Manchester United Restaurant and Bar in Hong Kong.
“I have nothing to say about any transfer rumours – I just want to stay at Manchester United.”
“As an Asian player, it’s honour to play for the biggest club in the world. I and other players want to achieve 20th league title for United.”
Park has made 177 appearances since 2005.
