According to L’Equipe, Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri’s time at the club could finally be coming to an end with reports linking him to French side AS Saint-Etienne. The 27-year-old has spent the last few weeks in Russia as the talisman of the Tunisian national team, but unfortunately, he’ll be coming home early following their final group stage game against Panama tonight.
Khazri has been with the Black Cats since 2016, although he enjoyed a successful season on loan with Rennes last year. With Sunderland now playing in the third tier of English football it always seemed as if Khazri was on borrowed time with the club, and one way or another, it felt like he was always going to be leaving.
Khazri has already agreed to the deal in principle, and now, the negotiations will reach the next step with both sides likely being keen to complete the deal as quickly as possible.
