Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf has suggested that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has already agreed a summer move to Schalke.
The Miners were believed to be leading the chase for the Germany star, who decided long time ago to leave los Blancos when his contract expires at the end of the season.
According to De Telegraaf, Khedira has agreed a long-term deal with the Bundesliga side, even if the move has yet to be made official.
This means that Schalke are unlikely to pursue their interest in Feyenoord hotshot Jordy Clasie, who is also being linked with a summer exit.
Despite joining Real Madrid on a cut-price deal from Stuttgart, Sami Khedira didn’t quite manage to prove his worth at Santiago Bernabeu.
The 28-year-old made a total of 102 La Liga appearances in five years with los Blancos, scoring 6 goals, while featuring in another 34 Champions League fixtures.
