Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has reportedly reached an agreement with Schalke, Marca can reveal.
The Germany star has long ago decided to leave los Blancos on a free transfer in the summer and he rejected proposals from Borussia Dortmund as well as some Premier League sides in order to sign with the Miners.
Khedira does not want the agreement to be made official before next summer, but Marca has learned that the transfer has been wrapped up.
Schalke officials took advantage of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid to meet with the player’s agents and seem to have persuaded the Germany international to join the Miners at the end of the season.
Khedira, 27, left Stuttgart to move to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2010 and has since featured in 102 La Liga matches and scored 6 goals.
Despite being linked with some of England’s top clubs, he ultimately decided to return to Germany.
