Khephren Thuram has decided to stay at OGC Nice past this summer amid rumours of interest from a number of top clubs, according to L’Equipe.
Despite recent reports suggesting Liverpool had dropped their pursuit of the 22-year-old midfielder, rumours linking him with the Merseysiders persist. However, Nice apparently never intended to sell him in the first place and they still don’t, and there’s even talk of a new contract being put on his table by the Ligue 1 side with two years remaining on the current one. If it gets signed, it should contain a much higher release clause than the one he has now.
And it seems the player and his entourage have accepted such a course as the best way forward, not wishing to disrupt his current momentum with a proposed change of scenery.
As for Liverpool, they’ve reportedly moved on to Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, though there doesn’t seem to be much movement on that front for the time being.
