Espanyol goalkeeper Francisco ‘Kiko’ Casilla is moving closer to joining former club Real Madrid, Marca has revealed.
The highly rated footballer was widely linked with a return to Santiago Bernabeu, but he ultimately signed a new deal at Cornella El Prat, with his buy-out clause now standing at €20 million.
Nevertheless, Marca has learned that Real Madrid are the only club who can sign him for half of that amount and they are likely to do so at the end of the season.
Chances are that Iker Casillas will be leaving los Blancos next summer, meaning that Kiko Casilla should challenge Keylor Navas for a starting berth in the 2015/2016 season.
The 28-year-old came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid, but left the club for Espanyol in 2007 without making a single appearance for the senior side.
However, the latest reports suggest he will be given a second chance to prove his worth at Santiago Bernabeu.
