According to German outlet Bild, Joshua Kimmich is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season with his relationship with head coach Thomas Tuchel gone beyond repair.
Kimmich joined Bayern Munich from VfB Stuttgart in 2015 as a promising young right-back, but he has since evolved into a top-level central midfielder. In all competitions, he has represented the Bavarians on 373 occasions so far, scoring 41 goals and recently reaching a milestone of 100 assists. Currently playing his ninth season at the Allianz Arena, he has eight Bundesliga titles to his name, along with three DFB-Pokal trophies, six German Super Cups, as well as the 2020 Champions League, closely followed by the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. He has also accumulated 82 caps as a Germany international.
Bayern have been on a truly woeful run of form at the moment, losing their last three matches in all competitions and being on their way to the first season without silverware for a very long time. They trail Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga table by eight points, they were knocked out of the cup at the hands of third-tier side Saarbrucken, and they’re 1-0 down to Lazio after the first leg of their clash in the Champions League round of 16.
It remains to be seen what happens with Tuchel in the coming days, and whether his potential sacking might get the 29-year-old to change his mind and stay put. There have been reports of interest in his services coming from Manchester United.
