Ledley King is looking to extend Tottenham’s impressive home record as they prepare to welcome Chelsea to White Hart Lane on Thursday.
Harry Redknapp’s side have won their last six at home in the Premier League, having only been beaten by Manchester City at White Hart Lane this season, and King is hoping that they can continue that form against their London rivals.
“I’ve always enjoyed these games, Chelsea have quite a few English players and it’s always nice to come up against them,” King told the club’s official website.
“We’ve always has good games against Chelsea, the atmosphere is fantastic at White Hart Lane and I’m sure it will be the same again.”
Spurs are currently unbeaten against Andre Villas-Boas’ side in their last five meetings at home, winning three and drawing two, a record King hopes to maintain.
“We’ve been good at home against them in recent years and we want to keep that run going,” he said.
“They are a good team with good players and you know a team like Chelsea isn’t going to go through a bad period for too long with the characters in the squad.”
“They’ve dug themselves out when things looked against them, turned it around and I’m sure they always look forward to playing against us as well.”
“We certainly go into it feeling confident.”
