Bournemouth’s Joshua King was on the verge of joining Manchester United towards the end of the January transfer window, that much has been reported far and wide by now, but journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic has now provided a little more information from the perspective of the player himself.
It seems the 28-year-old forward is left disappointed with the way things ended. United had two offers for his services rejected by the Cherries, the second of which stood at £25 million. That was on Thursday, January 30th, but both Bournemouth and King expected the Red Devils to come in with a third one on Friday, the Deadline Day. King had even packed his bags for the trip north. However, the third offer never arrived and United went on to sign Odion Ighalo on loan instead.
It is believed that King’s feeling of disappointment is directed towards United for not persisting with their efforts to sign him, rather than Bournemouth for not accepting either of the two offers that did arrive.
