Having already played for three different European giants at the age of 19, Kingsley Coman stands as a confirmation of an undoubted talent and world-class potential.
Coman’s tender career has taken huge leaps over the course of last three years during which time the 19-year-ol French starlet has already represented Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and now Bayern Munich.
A remarkable list of European heavyweights for any football player, let alone for a boy who is at the very beginning of his career.
Destiny
Destined for stardom, Kingsley Coman has used every chance he got to prove his talent, quality and world-class potential, which will leave PSG and Juventus scratching their heads following Bayern’s extra-time triumph over the Italian champions in the UEFA Champions League last-16 return leg in Munich.
As Bavarians battled back from two goals down and into extra-time, it was exactly Kingsley Coman who struck the final nail in Juventus’ Champions League coffin with his 110th-minute curler for the 4-2 victory.
With no clause in his two-year loan deal at Bayern Munich from Juventus, the 19-year-old was available for selection, which, in all irony, proved costly for Massimilliano Allegri’s team.
Call it a case of destiny, faith or simply a symbolic turn of events, Kingsley Coman struck a beauty to put eyes of the world upon his chest, adding a significant notch to his belt, once again proving that ‘one man’s loss is always another man’s gain’.
Juventus and PSG scratching their heads
Having in mind Coman’s astronomic rise to prominence in a short period of time, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain must be wondering whether they had made wrong choices and decision regarding the 19-year-old pearl.
Kingsley Coman debuted for PSG at 16 years and 8 days in a league match against Socheaux, which saw him become Paris Saint-Germain’s youngest-ever player, a record Coman holds to this day.
Talented forward joined PSG youth academy at the age of eight, but was never awarded with an opportunity to make his mark in the senior team.
He was at the right place, but in the wrong time as success-driven club’s hierarchy had little patience and time to wait on the talented man. Focused on bringing already established stars and experienced players to the first-team, PSG owners and coaching staff simply let Coman’s contract expire.
Juventus jumped to the occasion bringing the youngster in much to the similarity of Paul Pogba, who was prized away from Manchester United. The French duo was part of the senior squad at the same time, but Coman’s appearances were restricted to substitute cameos for Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal.
With major changes of personnel and the departures of the experienced players, Juventus fans will have been left scratching their heads over Juventus’ decision to let Coman leave the club when it was expected that Frenchman could be given a more substantial role to the first team.
Road to stardom
Paris Saint-Germain product was brought to Bayern Munich at the beginning of the current season for a loan fee believed to be €7 million, while a permanent switch in an option for additional €21.
The young Frenchman has been given a proper chance to excel as he got regular playing time under Pep Guardiola, having already racked up 19 Bundesliga and another 5 Champions League appearances for Bayern Munich, adding the total of six goals to his tally.
With that goal against Juventus being just a cherry on top of his so far more than successful season, Bayern Munich are expected to do everything in their power to keep hold of the talented teenager, who is seen as the proper replacement for Frank Ribery.
Kingsley Coman has been mostly used on the flanks and alongside the fellow impressive summer addition Douglas Costa, the 19-year-old French international has played a significant role in Bayern Munich’s rejuvenating process in wide areas smoothing the transition and reducing the dependence on ageing Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery.
Coman’s impressive performances for the German powerhouse have also helped him achieve natural progression from the French Under-21 side into the senior squad with his chances of making it to the 2016 European Champions final tournament significantly increased.
France are standing as favourites at 7/2 odds to lift the European trophy on home soil and Kingsley Coman could play an integral part in their campaign.
