Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has told press that he hopes to leave hospital by today, according to BBC Sport.
The former Wimbledon boss was taken into hospital on Saturday morning after complaining of high blood pressure and missed the clubs crucical 3-2 win away at West Brom, where his assistant Chris Hughton took charge.
Kinnear hopes to be back in the dugout in time for the upcoming Everton game on 22nd February as Newcastle battle against relegation.
Kinnear said:
“They have done some tests and we will get some more results on Monday, A cardiologist is to have a look at me, and then I hope to be allowed to head home on Tuesday morning. I feel A-OK and hope to be back at work soon.”
“I’m fighting fit, and with a bit of a break before the next game, I hope to be back for the Everton match for normal service,”
This is not the first time that Kinnear has had to be admitted to hospital with links to his football career, the 62-year-old suffered a mild heart attack in 1999 before a league game against Sheffield Wednesday whilst manager of Wimbledon.
