Sevilla defender Simon Kjaer has been loaned out to Atalanta for this season, but he has hardly been able to prove his worth to head coach Gian Piero Gasperini who has given him only six appearances in total so far, five in Serie A and one in the Champions League.
His time with La Dea is therefore coming to an end, according to Marca, and he is very likely to join AC Milan this month, with Atalanta very keen on bringing Mattia Caldara the other way.
Kjaer apparently had options to elsewhere in Italy. He could have chosen between Cagliari and Sampdoria as both these clubs made their offers for his services, but it seems he has chosen the Rossoneri as his next career step. It is believed that the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the prospect of sharing the dressing room with the controversial Swede may have played its part in the Denmark international’s decision.
Milan also reportedly held talks with the representatives of Dejan Lovren, though Liverpool are no likelier to let the Croatian centre-back leave now than last summer.
