(GSM) – Kléber scored two second-half goals on Wednesday night to help Cruzeiro beat Vélez 3-0 and go top of Copa Libertadores Group 7.
Kléber’s strike partner, Thiago Ribeiro put the Brazilians in front in the 33rd minute when his strike found the net of Germán Montoya.
But it was Kléber that stole the show after half-time, putting Cruzeiro 2-0 in front in the 49th minute, visibly frustrating the Argentines, who came into the day at the top of the group.
Kléber then bagged a second – his seventh of the tournament – five minutes later to seal the victory for the boys from Belo Horizonte.
Through five of six group games, both Cruzeiro and Vélez sit on 10 points, but the Brazilians have a significant edge on goal difference.
