Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp claims his side have the advantage ahead of their Champions League return leg with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Bundesliga champions came away from the Donbass Arena with a 2-2 draw with the Ukrainian champions in the first leg of the last-16 tie.

And the 45-year-old Klopp is anticipating another tight affair.

“It will be a difficult game for both teams. We both showed why we have reached this stage during the first leg. I feel we hold a slight advantage going into tomorrow’s game,” he said.

“Maybe we can surprise Shakhtar by showing more than we did against Bayern. We must do if we harbour any ambition of progressing to the next round.”

Mario Goetze echoed his coach’s sentiments, and said Dortmund were focused on ensuring they make the most of their first-leg efforts.

He added: “They showed their quality in attacking in Donetsk, scoring twice. We want to make the most of the slight advantage we have.

“As a kid I dreamed of playing in the Champions League and going this far. It’s a fantastic competition.”

Klopp also issued a statement regarding the fitness of defender Mats Hummels, whose participation in the match is still in the balance.

“He was able to run today and he will rest at home this evening and train tomorrow. There remains a little bit of hope (that he will be fit to play on Tuesday),” the German said.
