Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp is hopeful that Mario Goetze will recover from his calf injury in time to face Freiburg.

The Germany international picked up the knock in Dortmund’s 2-1 Champions League win over Real Madrid on Wednesday and it initially appeared unlikely that he would recover in time for this Saturday’s Bundesliga game.

However, Klopp has not given up hope that Goetze will be available just yet for the clash at the Mage Solar Stadion.

“Mario has a chance to recover in time,” the Dortmund coach said.

Meanwhile, the club will probably have to make do without the services of Sven Bender on Saturday due to injury.

“Manni is almost certain to be out,” Klopp said.

Dortmund are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Schalke which saw them slip 12 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
