Despite all the problems his team has faced this season, Jurgen Klopp has no intention of leaving his post as the Liverpool manager, according to his agent, Marc Kosicke.
This statement, made by the agent to Sky in Germany, comes in the light of several pundits suggesting Klopp might well decide to jump ship, not being a manager who wants his team for fight for anything less than the very top.
But those pundits, former Arsenal star Paul Merson the most prominent among them, have obviously left a few important details out of their calculations. Klopp took over at Liverpool back in 2015, when they were some way off the top of the English and European game, and built a team that won every trophy on offer since. And speaking to the press ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Napoli at Anfield on Tuesday, he made it very clear he wasn’t at the club only for the moments when the ‘sun is shining’.
The German tactician signed a new contract with the Merseysiders this summer and he’s now tied to the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.
“I can assure that Jurgen Klopp has no intention of resigning from Liverpool FC,” Kosicke said.
“The fact that problems could arise this season due to the past intensive season was taken into account by the club’s owners before the start of the season.
“Jurgen enjoys the backing of the people in charge and is in regular contact with them. He loves the club, his team and the fans and is determined to continue and successfully complete the transition in Liverpool. He didn’t extend his contract until 2026 for nothing.”
