Manager Jurgen Klopp wants Roberto Firmino to remain at Liverpool past this summer, when his current contract expires, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool have so far had an abysmal season, getting knocked out of both cups, sitting 11 points off top four in the Premier League, and getting ready to face Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League. They are yet to win a match in the English top flight this year. Firmino was, however, one of their best performers, with 13 goal involvements (nine goals, four assists) in 21 matches across all competitions.
Several days ago, the agent of the 31-year-old forward confirmed that the talks over a new contract are going well.
