Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to comment on speculation linking the club with a move for Mario Gotze. The World Cup winner has been struggling to reach the same heights he was once at following his return to Borussia Dortmund, and many fans believe that he needs a change of pace. That could come in the form of a reunion with Klopp, who knows his game inside and out. Klopp made the remarks (claiming that if he wants to talk to Mario he’ll call him) during a press conference prior to the Reds’ encounter with Chelsea in the League Cup.
Gotze would likely fit into Liverpool’s style of play quite nicely, but Klopp won’t want to upset the established order unless it’s absolutely necessary. They’ve got a good thing going right now as evidenced by their start to the season both in Europe and domestically, and the January transfer window is still a good few months away – so we can understand the silence.
