Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said his team missed their ‘best weapon’ during a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
A stunning first-half goal from Jakub Blaszczykowski was not enough for Dortmund, as a 78th-minute equaliser from Stefan Reisinger salvaged a point for the Bundesliga mid-table side.
“The key to our game is counter pressing,” Klopp told reporters.
“This is the best weapon you can have against a defensively minded team. But today we hadn’t brought this weapon with us.”
Klopp believed that the game was all but won at half-time, and suggested that perhaps Dusseldorf did not do that much to deserve their goal.
“We played a decent first half and with the 1-0 lead, the game was wrapped up,” he said.
“I told the lads at half-time that only if we make individual mistakes will we allow them to catch us on the break. There wasn’t actually much pressure from Dusseldorf. Despite that, it the equaliser did happen.”
