Lazio have signed Germany striker Miroslav Klose on a two-year deal, the Serie A club confirmed on Thursday.
Klose walked out of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on a free transfer after his deal expired on June 30, having rejected their offer of a one-year rolling deal.
Instead, the 33-year-old is headed for Rome on a deal reportedly worth nearly two million pounds.
“Miroslav Klose is a Lazio player,” read a brief statement on Lazio’s official website.
Klose had a disappointing season with Bayern in 2010/11, scoring just one goal in 20 appearances.
The veteran striker was unused in Germany’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Austria this month but remains an important part of international set-up.
He is the second most prolific scorer in Germany’s history with 61 goals in 109 appearances, just eight behind the legendary Gerd Muller.
Lazio finished fifth in Serie A at the conclusion of the last campaign, missing out on Champions League football by inferior goal difference to fourth-placed Udinese.
