(GSM) – Germany striker Miroslav Klose says he is more focused on winning the World Cup in South Africa than breaking Ronaldo’s goal record.

Germany crushed Argentina 4-0 on Saturday to reach the World Cup semi-finals, Klose scored twice, while Thomas Muller and Arne Friedrich shared the other two goals. The German upped his World Cup career tally to 14 goals, just one behind the Brazilian striker’s record of 15.

The Bayern Munich forward said: “I don’t know whether I am going to pass Ronaldo’s record, and I don’t really care.”

He added: “I didn’t think about the record beforehand. I just wanted to win the game.

“I am more interested in what we do as a team. If we end this tournament winning the World Cup that would be far more important than any goals I score.”

“Argentina are a good side but we played as a team,” crowed Klose.

“We were excellent. Now we have two games left. If we win them both we will be world champions.”

Germany will meet Spain in the Second Semi-final in Durban on Wednesday.
