Kluivert believes De Ligt is Barcelona material

Former Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert believes that Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt is good enough to succeed at Camp Nou.

The highly rated centre-back has emerged as a top target for the Catalans, who are reportedly readying a €50 million bid for his services.

And while some are worried that the 18-year-old may not be ready to perform at the highest level just yet, Patrick Kluivert is confident De Ligt can play a prominent role at Camp Nou.

“He is very young, but he has the qualities to play in any great team, including FC Barcelona,” the former Netherlands star told RAC1.

In spite of his fragile age, De Ligt has already shown a great deal of promise at senior level, making 39 Eredivisie appearances and scoring 5 goals.
