Knee problems force Hannover`s Valerien Ismael to end career

Hannover 96 defender Valerien Ismael has decided to end his career as a professional football player. His doctors don`t think the 34-year-old Frenchman will recover from a serious knee injury.

Ismael played his last match for Hannover a year ago, against Bayer Leverkusen (0-4 defeat). The knee injury he suffered from was followed by a long rehabilitation process.

Now, Hannover`s medical staff, don`t see any progress in the veteran`s recovery which forces Ismael to end his career.

Before Hannover 96, the French defender also played for Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich.
