Bolton defender Zat Knight will be out for more than a month after sustaining a knee injury against Everton on Sunday.
The centre back picked up the injury after landing awkwardly following a challenge on Victor Anichebe during Bolton’s 2-0 Premier League win.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle revealed the injury was likely to keep Knight out for four to six weeks, and said the defender’s absence is a big loss.
“First and foremost (it’s bad news) for Zat, because he’s played every game for me since I came to the football club over a year ago,” Coyle told the club’s website.
“Zat has got ligament damage and at this moment in time there is some swelling in the area.”
“It will be seven to ten days before that settles down and then at that point we will be able to ascertain the exact length of time that he will be out.”
“At this moment in time it would be guessing, although we are probably looking in the region of four to six weeks.”
“He’s been outstanding as a player and as a man, and the sooner we get him back the better.”
“It is a blow, there’s no doubt about it, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
