The 25-year-old goalkeeper rose through the youth tanks at Grasshopper, in his birth city of Zurich, Switzerland. His spell in Germany started with Hoffenheim, and he also played for Augsburg and Stuttgart, before moving to Dortmund in the summer of 2021. Since then, he’s firmly established himself as the starting goalkeeper in Edin Terzic’s ranks, making a total of 84 appearances for the club in all competitions, conceding 107 goals, and keeping a clean sheet on 29 occasions.
Kobel was reportedly of interest to several Premier League clubs who are looking to improve on their current goalkeeping options, but at this point in his career, he obviously sees no reason for a change of scenery.
