Southampton are readying a move for Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, according to the Mirror.
The 29 year old is in fine form this season, with sixteen goals in twenty-five appearances in all competitions.
He moved to the Stade Velodrome from Toulouse in the summer of 2010 after representing his country at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, while he began his career with Lorient.
He has been capped nineteen times by France, scoring nineteen goals, the last of which coming in a 3-0 win in Armenia back in October.
West Ham United and Everton are also monitoring the Gignac situation, though Saints manager Ronald Koeman is confident that he can win the race to secure his services.
Southampton scored a late winner against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon to remain well in the race for a top four finish ahead of Wednesday’s home match with West Ham United.
