Ronald Koeman has told Tottenham Hotspur that they will not be able to sign Ross Barkley ‘on the cheap’, according to the Daily Star.
The England international has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer with Spurs, who are yet to make any new signings the front runners in the race to secure his services.
Chelsea are also interested, as they prepare for a season back in Champions League.
Barkley has made no secret of his desire to play in Europe’s top competition and has rejected the Toffees offer of a new deal.
Aside from brief loan spells with Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday early on in his career the twenty-three year old has spent his entire career so far at Goodison Park.
He has made one hundred and seventy-nine appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty-seven goals while he has two in twenty-two outings for his country.
