Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman expressed disappointment with his side’s performance after their 4-0 Eredivisie win over VVV Venlo on Sunday.
A John Guidetti brace and goals from Karim El Ahmadi and Ricky van Haaren sealed the win against their 10-man opponents, but the former Netherlands international was far from happy with his team’s display.
“We were sloppy, without trust, no pace, weak positional play and made the wrong choices. That may sound silly when you win 4-0, but that’s it,” Koeman told De Volkskrant.
He then went on to admit that his team received a helping hand from the referee, who awarded two penalties to Feyenoord, both of which were converted by Guidetti.
“Things went our way at the right moments, but I will not further discuss the referee’s performance.”
With Sunday’s victory, Feyenoord moved up to fourth in the Eredivisie, two places above rivals Ajax, whom they meet in the first Klassieker of the season next Sunday at the Amsterdam ArenA.
