According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman wants to bring Philippe Coutinho back into the fold next season.
The Brazilian, who actually scored twice against the Spanish giants for Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, is starting to rebuild some momentum after months of fans believing that he wouldn’t be staying at the Nou Camp.
Now that Koeman has entered the conversation, though, it appears as if he could have a future there after all. Coutinho first hit the mainstream during his stint with Liverpool, which eventually led to his huge move to Barca.
There is some serious reshuffling needed from Barcelona’s point of view if they’re going to compete on a domestic or European level next season, and while Koeman’s appointment may have been controversial, he certainly isn’t wasting any time in implementing his own style. With so little time before the new campaign begins, that may not be a bad thing.
