Koln president rules out Podolski’s departure

Koln president Wolfgang Overath has moved to deny speculations that Lukas Podolski is leaving the club this summer.

The Germany international has been repeatedly linked with a move to Galatasaray, but it looks as though he will be staying in Koln after all.

“First of all, Lukas Podolski has a contract with FC Koln until June 2013,” Overath told Bild.

“We will not let him join another club! Lukas belongs to FC Koln.”

“The fans love him and he is the club’s icon. FC Koln bought Lukas to achieve sporting objectives.

”And I firmly believe that Lukas need FC Koln and these surroundings to feel good and perform well.”
