Kolo Toure on Anzhi radar

Russian Premier League side Anzhi are readying bid for Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, according to Izvestia.

The free-spending club from Makhachkala are desperate to sign a replacement for Christopher Samba and have until 27th February to bring a new centre-back.

Anzhi officials need someone who can slot right into the starting line-up and they are, therefore, stepping up their interest in Kolo Toure.

The Russians attempted to sign the Ivorian defender one year ago, but failed to strike a deal with the player’s employers.

With Toure’s contract at Etihad set to expire at the end of the season, Anzhi now have a much better chance to acquire his services.

Rather than waiting for his contract to end, the Dagestan outfit plan to sign the experienced defender in the winter transfer window.

Kolo Toure has seen little playing time at Etihad this season and is nearing the exit door, but Roberto Mancini could pull the plug on any deal due to the latest defensive crisis.
