Paris based Ligue 1 outfit Paris St. Germain’s coach Antoine Kombouare has claimed that France Captain Patrick Vieira is interested in joining the club.

The 33 year-old, who plays for Italian Champions Internazionale Milano FC, could be offloaded by coach Jose Mourinho as he no longer commands a regular first team place.

The future of the Inter Milan midfielder, if he leaves the Nerazzuri’s, could be settled by a return to his home country France.

Kombouare told French radio station RMC: “(We spoke) on the phone. He longed to come to PSG, to work together… He knows in particular that he needs a season to get back (to his best) with the 2010 World Cup in mind.

“But our concern is of course the salary. He is ready to make an effort, but to what level? Anyway, I do not manage the financial aspect. (PSG president) Sebastien Bazin and Patrick Vieira are in negotiations. We will see if it is to be or not.”

Along with Patrick Vieira, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has also been linked with a summer move to the Parc des Princes, and Kombouare insists a deal for the 36-year-old stopper is not dependent on the departure of Mickael Landreau.

“No, this has nothing to do with it,” he said. “I am doing everything for Coupet. Landreau announced at the end of the season he did not want to stay at PSG.

“We are doing our all so that Coupet is our goalkeeper next season and hopefully we will finalise things this weekend. He longed to come, I really want him to come. But while nothing is signed, we cannot say anything.”
