Kombouare praises PSG display

Paris Saint-Germain boss Antoine Kombouare sung the praises of his players after they won through to the last 32 of the Europa League.

Kombouare watched his side defeat Sevilla 4-2 on Thursday in a thrilling end-to-end game of football that showcased the attacking styles of both sides.

A double from striker Guillaume Hoarau and a Nene wonder-strike fired PSG to victory, which Kombouare believes they full deserved.

“It’s incredibly satisfying and I’m proud of my players’ performance tonight because we were faced with a great team,” Kombouare said.

“We were awesome.”

“We did everything you can be expected to do in a match even though it was a bit distressing to see them level the score. But I had a lot confidence in my team. All together, we delivered a fantastic performance.”

PSG sit atop Group J on 11 points and are assured of qualification, while Sevilla’s clash with Bundesliga table-toppers Borussia Dortmund in Spain on Matchday Six will decide the other qualifier.

But Sevilla manager Gregorio Manzano was not looking ahead after the loss to PSG and instead opted to focus on what he considered a disappointed display from his side.

“We came here looking to win it and that’s how we started the match, with the best intentions and control of the game,” Manzano said.

“We created chances but then through two similar moves, we found ourselves 2-0 down. We came back and were feeling good but then conceded just before half time, so we had to start the second term a goal down.”

“Then came the fourth goal … that’s when we lost the plot and lost control of the match.”
