Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has made it clear that head coach Antoine Kombouare retains the full confidence of the club.
There has been speculation about Kombouare’s future with the Ligue 1 table-toppers since the club was taken over by the Qatar Investment Authority in May, with reports suggesting PSG have lined up Carlo Ancelotti to take over as manager.
But former Chelsea and AC Milan manager Ancelotti has denied reports that he is in talks with PSG, and Leonardo has now insisted that Kombouare’s job is safe.
“There has been quite a lot said about Kombouare, but the squad knows what is going on. The situation has never changed and it’s not going to,” Leonardo told L’Equipe.
“Kombouare has the full confidence of the club and we will continue to work together. He is the coach, nothing has changed.”
“We only started that work four months ago and a lot of positive things have already happened. We’re improving, it’s part of the game.”
Despite Sunday’s 1-0 loss at home against Nancy, PSG still top the Ligue 1 table with 30 points from 14 games.
