Vincent Kompany will be representing his national side at the Olympics in Beijing. Hamburger SV and the Belgian FA finally came to an agreement.

Belgium always wanted to select the player for the tournament, which is to be played in August, but Hamburg refused to let Kompany go.

The two parties agreed that Kompany will be traveling to China on August 2nd, and would return to Germany before the start of the tournament, whether Belgium make it to the later stages or not.

The 22-year-old defender will be playing a friendly match with the Netherlands on Wednesday, before he returns to his club to spend the next few weeks preparing for the coming season.
