RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate is very close to becoming a Liverpool player this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Merseysiders have struggled greatly with injuries in the centre-back department this season, with all three designated players in the role out for the rest of the season. The absence of Virgil van Dijk has been a particularly nasty blow, but Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have been sorely missed as well.
Ozan Kabak, who joined Liverpool on the last day of the winter window on loan from Schalke for the second half of the season, has done relatively well so far and he could also make Anfield his permanent home in the summer.
Meanwhile, Konate has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Merseysiders, and his services will cost the club around €35 million. That is apparently the amount set in the release clause of his deal with Leipzig and it will have to be paid fully, with the Bundesliga side reluctant to negotiate having already lost Dayot Upamecano to Bayern Munich past the summer.
