Konrad Laimer is set to leave RB Leipzig when his contract expires at the end of the season join Bayern Munich as a free agent, according to Fabrizio Romano. A verbal agreement on general terms between the Bundesliga champions and the player’s entourage was reached in December, and the remaining few details are expected to be thrashed out in the coming days.
Bayern have been pursuing Laimer since the summer of 2022, and it is believed that for a while they faced competition for his services from the Premier League. Liverpool are thought to be planning a major midfield overhaul in the near future and they reportedly considered the 25-year-old Austria international as a potential target, and the same goes for Tottenham Hotspur.
However, it seems Laimer has chosen to remain in Germany, rather than move to England.
Since joining Leipzig from their sister club RB Salzburg in 2017, Laimer has made a total of 167 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 18 assists from his role in the middle of the park.
