Korean star pledges future to Celtic

Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng says he is willing to commit to Celtic by signing a new, long-term deal.

The 22-year-old former FC Seoul man, who has scored five goals for the Hoops this term, is contracted with the Glasgow club for another two years but said he would be interested in extending that stay.

“I have two years left so I don’t have to be in a hurry,” Ki told The Daily Record.

“Maybe at the end of the season we can talk about a new contract. They haven’t spoken to me yet but it would appeal to me.”

Ki has had many suitors interested in his services, and Celtic reportedly turned down bids from Blackburn Rovers and Rubin Kazan in the past transfer window.

The Korean added: “I’m young and I’m very happy with these players and the manager. I’m very pleased with this club.”

“I’m playing games and getting the chance to experience the Europa League. Playing these European games is unbelievable.”

“But I just want to help the team win the league first. That’s my target for this season.”
