Turkish giants Galatasaray didn’t need much time to succeed Michael Skibbe, who was sacked earlier on Monday, as Bülent Korkmaz was appointed to succeed the German.
Korkmaz is a true club icon, having spent his entire career (1984-2005) at the Istanbul-based side. In 630 appearances, he scored 19 goals.
The 40-year-old gained managing experience at Kayseri Erciyespor, Buraspor and Genclerbirligi but had been without a job this season.
At Galatasaray, Korkmaz will be assisted by current technical director Karl-Heinz Feldkamp.
