Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos, and the player is due to arrive on Merseyside to undergo a medical, according to multiple sources.
Liverpool have been looking to add some cover on the left defensive flank and provide first-choice left-back Andy Robertson with some competition at the same time. They were in talks with Norwich City over Jamal Lewis but the Canaries rejected their offer of £10 million, demanding twice as much. The talks continued for a few days but as it became clearer no agreement was forthcoming, Liverpool left the negotiations and turned their attention towards Tsimikas.
At the age of 24, the Greek is a bit further down the line in his development than 22-year-old Lewis. This season, he made a total of 46 appearances in all competitions, six of which came in the Champions League and four in the Europa League. He has also been capped three times for his country.
Liverpool will obtain his services for the sum of €13m (£11.7m), if no hitches appear along the way.
